Monthly magic from the real work

A classic newsletter with a neuro-affirming twist created by The Real Work's therapy collective.

Hi everyone!

Welcome to November's edition of our Monthly Magic. It's the time of year where many of us are feeling more insular, perhaps the darker days are getting to us, and stress of schedule changes and upcoming holiday expectations might be looming.

For you this month we have: a couple "permission slips" for parents, a helpful guide, and some really cool news about changes we are making to create community and connection this coming year!

Here are some parent permission slips and one of our favorite guides created by Amber:

  1. You have permission to hibernate (if you can). Staying home, avoiding travel, and seeking comfort during winter months are natural instincts!
  2. Consider your and your child's sensory needs when planning for the holidays. You have permission to take breaks, bring comfort items to gatherings, or leave early.
  3. Revisit our guide to preparing your child for "back to school" AFTER the holiday break. For many, the transition back creates mounting anxiety about halfway through their time off school.

NEWS! Our 2026 goal: Create More access to social connection for local families
